Brandon Boyd, born as Brandon Charles Boyd, was born on February 15, 1976. Brandon Boyd is the lead vocalist and percussionist of the rock band Incubus. Brandon Boyd was born in Van Nuys, California. Brandon Boyd grew up in Calabasas, California. His parents Dolly and Charles, both of whom had experience in entertainment, had nurtured his creative side since he was a child. Brandon Boyd had first met Jose Pasillas in elementary school in the 1980s, but it wasn't until high school that he was asked to join a band that already included Jose, Mike Einziger, and Alex Katunich. Brandon Boyd's vocal abilities, which were for the most part self taught (he had taken two lessons before he ran out of money, but he claims he learned everything he would need), and proved to be the final essential element for the band 'Incubus'. As they developed more and more songs, band 'Incubus' quickly became a popular show around the neighborhood.

When 'Incubus' decided to play their first show together at a friend's house, the time came to choose a band name. Brandon Boyd's suggestion, "Spiral Staircase," was denied in favor of Mike's suggestion, selected at random from a dictionary: Incubus. Brandon Boyd put his other artistic talents to good use, drawing concert flyers advertising their early performances. At first, Brandon had copied several drawings from a sex book that Mike's mom had given them, but he decided to stop using it after several prospective fans had been confused by their flyers ("What kind of band is this?"). Brandon Boyd's strong voice was part of what attracted Sony's Epic/Immortal Records, and Incubus signed a deal in 1996. Incubus's first two releases on label, Enjoy Incubus and S.C.I.E.N.C.E. went largely unnoticed, but subsequent releases Make Yourself and Morning View were huge commercial successes. Incubus's most recent release A Crow Left of the Murder has continued their success.

Over the years, Brandon Boyd's lyrics have expressed a range of different ideas. Brandon Boyd's early work, which was often light and playful, was no doubt influenced in part by his use of marijuana. According to Brandon Boyd, after smoking his first joint with his older brother Darren, the poetic floodgates had been opened inside of his brain. Brandon Boyd's first artistic love, however, remains drawing. Before Incubus decided to concentrate on music full time, he and Jose had attended Moorpark College full time as art students. Today, Brandon Boyd spends his time surfing, writing, drawing, and spending time with friends, family, his girlfriend Carolyn and canine companion "Sativa".

Son muchísimos, ire escribiendo sobre todos ellos, cada vez que haga un nuevo hallazgo, lo pondré, quiero que la getne conozca estos grupos, es una pena,q ue ciertos grupos, vayan solo a Madrid y Barcelona.

Por ejemplo Death cab for cutie, un grupo de indie californiano, vino a San Sebastian, en Febrero, un aplauso por ellos, porque tocaron en una sala pequeña comparando con lo que hacen en estados unidos, pero aquí poco a poco.

Incubus es una banda de funk rock procedente de Calabasas, California. Formada en 1991 por Brandon Boyd (vocales y percusión) y José Pasillas (batería) los cuales se conocían de la escuela. Poco más tarde Jose conoció a Mike Einziger (guitarra), y Dirk Lance (bajo) al poco tiempo después entró Dj Lyfe.

Están influidos por el sonido de The Police, Deep Purple, Faith No More y Red Hot Chili Peppers, aunque tienen tendencias actuales y cambiantes. Han influido mucho en el rock alternativo. Una de sus principales características es la capacidad de combinar jazz y funk con sonidos contundentes de guitarras, siendo capaces de mantener una gran intensidad y unas complejas melodías en cada una de las líneas intrumentales y de voz.

En su primer disco resaltan influencias de primus, mr. bungle y red hot chili peppers. Éste material tiene un sonido jazz-funk combinado con hard-core metal que poco a poco los evolucionan hasta llegar a un estilo propio más hard - rock y caracterizado por los sonidos de la guitarra de Mike y por la voz inconfudible de Boyd.

Después de lanzar el disco que les dio el empujón S.C.I.E.N.C.E se une DJ Kilmore (DJ) ya que Dj Lyfe no se presentó a las últimas grabaciones del disco y tuvieron que reemplazarlo. En éste material ya llevan un sonido más característico de lo que vendría siendo en un futuro su sonido original, canciones frenéticas pero con una gran gama de riffs y combinaciones en todos los instrumentos.

En el siguiente cd, make yourself, ya tienen una calidad de sonido único como puede apreciarse en canciones como "drive" o "stellar", que son más alternativas que lo que habían hecho antes. Boyd toma su lugar como vocalista y letrista, recurriendo a una gran profundidad en sus letras.

Después del auspicioso "MakeYourself", Incubus regresa a los estudios para producir su próximo disco. Curiosamente, para la producción de la placa se alojaron en una cómoda mansión ubicada en una calle llamada "Morning View", que resultó finalmente ser el nombre del disco. "Morning View" destacó con sencillos como "Wish you were here", "Nice to know you", "Are you in" y "Warning".

Luego de esto, Incubus sufrió la separación de su bajista Alex Katunich (Dirk Lance), por supuestas "diferencias muicales". Esta perdida representa el alejamiento del lado más jazz y funky que pudo conseguir en otros discos. En su lugar, fue convocado el bajista Ben Kenney, ex guitarrista de The Roots, y bajista del proyecto paralelo de Mike Einziger y José Pasillas, denominado "Time Lapse Consortium.

Se dice que más de una vez graban todos a la vez como antaño hicieron bandas como The Beatles.

La banda formo una fundación sin fines de lucro The Make Yourself Foundation que junta fondos para varias causas y caridades en los Estados Unidos y el resto del mundo que sean importantes para Incubus ayudando así a los más necesitados. La banda financia la fundación donando una porción de los ingresos generados por los Tours, de los royaltys de subastas On-Line,
